Yang Song

Assistant Professor, Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences, College of Science

I work in the Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences Department as an assistant professor through the College of Sciences. I am also a faculty member of the UA BRIDGES program. My research specializes in developing and applying Earth system models to understand and forecast the role of vegetation, microbial communities, and human activities in terrestrial-atmospheric interactions. I am interested in seeking both scientific insights and practical strategies of fundamental relevance to societal well-being, including agriculture production, bioenergy feedstock, carbon sequestration, and water quantity and quality. My current research projects including
Assessing Resilience of Arizona Grassland to Changes in the North American Monsoon:  Fewer, Larger Rainfall Events with Longer-Duration Drought Intervals, 2021-Now, UA Arizona Institutes for Resilience (Primary Investigator, Current project)
BRIDGES - Building Resources for InterDisciplinary training in Genomic and Ecosystem Sciences, 2020-Now, NSF (Participant faculty member, Current project)
