Steven Leavitt

Associate Director and Professor, Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research, College of Science

Dr. Leavitt applies stable isotope methods toward resolution of questions related to global and regional change. Isotope dendrochronology provides a novel tool for reconstructing past environments. He is studying climate, hydrology, and teleconnections from carbon and oxygen isotopes in ponderosa and pinyon pine in the Southwest and in China, soil organic carbon dynamics under FACE elevated CO2 conditions, and drought from carbon isotopes in tree rings.
