Dr. Root's interests lie in molecular-scale mechanisms of biogeochemical cycling of trace metals and metalloids in the environment and mineral weathering reactions at the rock-water interface. He specializes in the use of synchrotron x-ray spectroscopic and microscopic techniques to determine metal(loid) speciation.
