Reyes Sierra-Alvarez

Professor, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering

The Field-Sierra research group studies water and wastewater treatment processes with emphasis on the (bio)remediation of hazardous organic and inorganic pollutants. Currently, the contaminants under consideration are PFAS, explosive compounds, onium compounds used in photolithography, azoles, ammonia, heavy metals (e.g. copper), and metalloids (arsenic and antimony). The research group is focused on biological and physical/chemical treatments that reduce the environmental risk posed by these contaminants.
